Blog
At Vibe, our technology may power the travel industry, but it’s our people who make it all possible. That’s why we created Team Vibe, a blog series dedicated to spotlighting the brilliant individuals behind our innovation, culture, and client success.
Welcome back to Team Vibe! So far, you’ve met our Service Desk Analyst, Luke, Client Project Manager, Kathryn, and Frontend Development Manager, Paige. In our fourth spotlight feature, we’re excited to introduce you to Ossi, one of our talented Developers.
Ossi plays a key role in bringing our tech to life through thoughtful, high-quality code. His days revolve around focused development, problem-solving, and collaborating with teams to ensure each feature meets and often exceeds client expectations. Bringing Vibe’s values to everything he does, Ossi joined us in June last year after a few memorable travel delays – now, he’s focused on making travel tech seamless and reliable.
Let’s dive in!
Ossi, Developer
Q: What does a typical day in your role look like?
A: It’s mostly coding really – of course planning is part of the process as well, and on any typical day there might be a couple of meetings to get started with new features, discuss issues that we’ve come across, and plan ahead. And then carry on coding. Once done with a particular section of code, whether a new feature or something else, we’ll pass it on to be tested and move on to another task. There are other technical things to deal with, but as a Developer, coding is at the core of my role.
Q: What does client satisfaction mean to you?
A: I may not interact with clients directly, but my work is driven by their needs – so client satisfaction is a clear and measurable goal. A piece of code should always result in the client’s specific request, but we aim a bit higher to regularly exceed expectations.
Q: How do you collaborate with other internal teams to bring our tech to life?
A: Although I like to get my head down and code, other Vibe departments cover a huge knowledge base that can be extremely helpful. Collaborating is essential, and colleagues help with spotting things to improve as well as offering solutions and suggestions that support the end product.
Q: How do you try to incorporate the company values into your work – Versatile, Innovative, Brilliant, Engaging?
A: For a Developer, these are not just abstract values – they’re in the code and in every task. It would be hard to forget how Versatile, Innovative, Brilliant, and Engaging Vibe is while working on it. Every day I try to make Vibe more of each of these values, and they guide my approach when tackling new features.
Q: What’s one thing people might not realise about your role or day-to-day tasks?
A: A Developer’s role might seem straightforward from the outside, but there’s a lot more to it than just coding shiny new features. It often involves a mix of problem solving and detective work – tracking down bugs, figuring out why something isn’t working as expected, and finding the best way to fix it. While it may not be the most unpredictable role to those who work in tech, there's plenty going on behind the scenes.
Q: What’s your favourite thing about working here at Vibe?
A: The team is great. Even if Developers aren’t generally the loudest people in the room, it still makes a big difference to have a wonderful team to work with.
Q: What’s one fun fact about you that would surprise your colleagues or clients?
A: Before working at Vibe, I used to travel a bit more for work (ironic, I know!) and didn’t have the best luck. In 2010, I was stuck in Atlantis the Palm in Dubai for almost a week after business had finished, due to the volcanic ash cloud that year causing mass flight cancellations. I was also snowed in for a weekend in Four Seasons in Hampshire while the related work event was cancelled.
Q: What’s one development trend or tool you're excited about right now and why?
A: Definitely AI. With constant updates to existing tools and new applications pretty much every day, it's both challenging and exciting to keep up with.
Q: To wrap up, what’s something you hope people take away from working with you?
A: To keep work interesting, I believe it’s important to put real thought into it – not just tick the boxes. Delivering the right solutions means understanding the reasoning behind them, and that takes curiosity, care, and a bit of creativity. Hopefully that shows in the end result.
We hope you’ve enjoyed learning about Ossi and the thoughtful dedication he brings to crafting the code behind our technology. He’s a vital part of how our travel tech comes to life and an invaluable member of Vibe’s story.
